Barry Clark, Related Stories: Creating Visual & Engaging Outputs
I created Related Stories in response to the growing client-side demand for; ' visual and engaging outputs' to research projects. I combine documentary photography with audio recordings to make concise but engaging outputs that convey the lived experience of respondents. Essentially, I'm making three minute documentaries.
The approach is a combination of ethnography, photography, storytelling and a conventional depth interview. In this AURA presentation I'll be sharing a case study of what I do; a story made for Fair4All Finance, a not-for-profit organisation that was founded by the DCMS. The story is designed to bring one of their consumer segments to life. Fair4All aim to; "increase the financial resilience and wellbeing of people in vulnerable circumstances..."
Barry Clark has worked in consumer insight for the last 18 years, firstly at Foresight Factory and then at Trajectory. He started his career at Whitbread and was the first markeing manager at Costa Coffee. He was also a Brand Manager at the publisher, HarperCollins. He graduated from Strathclyde University with an Honours degree in marketing and industrial relations.
